Job Purpose:

This is an excellent opportunity for a clinical research manager for Pet and Animal Wellbeing (PAW) to join the ADM Health & Wellness Medical Team and gain experience from the ground up in a rapidly growing business, with a particular focus on the microbiome and its role in the health of pets. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Medical Team, delivering the clinical research programme to support the Health & Wellness business and becoming a subject matter expert in microbiome research.

The Clinical Research Manager will be responsible for the design, oversight, and delivery of clinical studies in species including dogs, cats and horses. This role ensures that studies are scientifically robust, ethically conducted, and compliant with applicable regulations and internal quality standards. The postholder will manage a portfolio of trials, developing leadership in protocol development, site and vendor oversight, data integrity, and interpretation of results. They will also contribute to strategic development of the PAW clinical research pipeline and serve as a key link between science, business, and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

Under the close supervision and guidance of the Head of PAW Clinical Research, the successful candidate will cover the following areas of responsibility:

Study design and delivery:
  • Develop scientifically sound study protocols and statistical analysis plans.
  • Lead operational planning, timelines, and budgets for assigned trials.
  • Oversee selection and management of external CROs and academic partners.
  • Ensure studies are executed to protocol, standards of quality and animal welfare.
  • Troubleshoot study issues and provide scientific/operational solutions.
Scientific dissemination and collaboration:
  • Interpret findings and prepare high-quality reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Support regulatory submissions and marketing claims with robust clinical evidence.
  • Work closely with Marketing to create and maintain scientific marketing assets.
Continuous professional development:
  • Build relationships with veterinary experts, academic collaborators, and industry partners.
  • Become a subject matter expert in the field of microbiome clinical research
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong scientific background with the ability to critically appraise study design and data. Clinical/ academic experience in microbiome research desirable
  • Project management skills: ability to balance multiple studies, budgets, and timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical and non-technical audiences. Publication track record highly desirable.
  • Ability to lead and influence across internal functions and external collaborators.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards and animal welfare.
Education & Experience:

Essential:
  • Advanced degree (MSc, DVM, PhD) in veterinary science, animal science, biology, or related field.
Desirable:
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical research, ideally in companion animals or veterinary medicine.
  • Experience of microbiome research.
  • Experience working with CROs, academic institutions, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with GCP, animal welfare standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
