Category Leader, Procurement - Microbiologicals

Position based in Kennesaw, GA.


Summary:

Working within the Procurement department along with the respective Global Category Manager (GCM) for executing tasks and sourcing, as well as maintaining materials, at the highest standard which support Science & Technology (S&T), Creative Design & Development (CD&D) and our customers. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Responsibilities:
  • Regionally responsible, together with the respective GCM, for finding and sourcing raw materials which support S&T and CD&D in developing new products to meet our customers' expectations
  • Implement new processes/systems to support departmental goals and projects. Manage workflow, scheduling, tracking, change management, evaluating and ensuring all action-items are accomplished.
  • Raise, investigate and resolve supplier Non-conformances and material failures in the company's best interest.
  • Manage selected spend/ sub- categories/ suppliers/ items based on the overarching purchasing strategy
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers and execute agreed contractual terms for non-core direct materials
  • Support the GCM with information to identify & manage projects to generate cost savings opportunities across the organization
  • Execute reporting tasks (e.g. Price movements; initiatives & savings tracking; etc.) for the spend under management
  • Require & maintain material samples, as well as all related activities (e.g. raw material documentation, supplier questionnaires etc.)
  • Perform new material creation tasks and support elimination of old materials
  • Manage internal claim management, master data maintenance (e.g. categorization, pricing, etc.)
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, economics or business administration
  • 3 years of experience in purchasing (indirect/direct materials and/or services) Experience with Microbiologicals (Enzymes, Probiotics, Phages, Spores) is preferred.
  • Experience in change management
  • Self- driven team player with strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills (collaboration across regions and functions, co-operation with external partners and suppliers)
  • Understanding of Procure- to Pay process, purchasing intelligence, able to set up priorities and manage aggressive assignments
  • Customer solution focused
  • Negotiation skills
  • Skilled in cost/benefit analysis and alternative decision making
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
