Position Summary:


The Scheduler coordinates and integrates all planning and scheduling activities for small, medium, and large capital projects of varying complexities and prepares, validates, and/or issues master schedules, S-curves, problem analysis reports, and variance reports. They should fully understand major business drivers and implications specific to scheduling for Construction Companies and will ensure compliance with internal project requirements while upholding safety and quality management protocols.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Thoroughly understand the principals of planning/scheduling and the relationships between the project controls functions of estimating, planning/scheduling, cost control, and risk management.
  • Thoroughly understand, define and identify schedule classifications and levels, as designated by AACE.
  • Develop and maintain cross-discipline relationships within the project team.
  • Actively review and thoroughly understand key aspects of the proposal or project contract. Assist in the development and execution of the strategy and plan for planning/scheduling activities that supports the overall proposal strategy and/or project requirements.
  • Assist in the development of project work plans and schedules that support the project/business group work processes and milestones.
  • Develop and update schedules that exhibit network logic which meet the needs of and are used by the project team. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the data.
  • Contribute to schedule risk analysis to help forecast schedule contingencies and related cost impacts.
  • Develop accurate and timely project labor hour forecasts with the participation of lead staff and project management. Prepare schedule analysis narratives including recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Status earned value systems that accurately measure project work progress and performance. Provide analysis of the data to lead project controls staff.
  • Create client and internal status reports that effectively communicate schedule status and identify critical path. Define corrective actions for implementation. Issue reports under the direction of lead project controls staff.
  • Gain practical field experience to develop understanding of how the project is being built.
Job Requirements:

  • Understand consulting/design project delivery processes and apply the principles of project controls work processes and practices as it relates to planning/scheduling.
  • Promote a positive working atmosphere. Motivate peers and junior staff.
  • Effectively communicate complex planning/scheduling information to team members.
  • Proficient with spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Implement and effectively use company standard planning/scheduling systems (Primavera and MS Project).
  • Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or related technical field. Experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
  • Active membership in AACE, PMI or similar association desired.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment; able to work with all levels of management and technical staff.
  • Must be a team player and demonstrate a teamwork approach to performance.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and productive in a high-pressure environment.
  • 5-10 years project scheduling skills required for a Lead Scheduler.
  • Experience in developing project Work Breakdown Structures used to create project schedules and estimates.
  • Experience with program scheduling to include an understanding of networks, interdependencies and networks.
  • Previous hands-on project experience and experience working on industry related projects.
  • High level of data manipulation and reporting knowledge is required.

  • The scope of this position will encompass predominantly office work in an office environment.
