Capital Project Analyst- Decatur, IL

This is a salary exempt level position.


  • Assists Project Manager with monitoring accounting and financial performance of assigned project(s), and development monthly project and corporate management progress reports including actual and forecast expenditures, variance analysis and estimates to complete.
  • Participate in project meetings and work with project engineers regarding financial issues, project cost estimates, FEL Process / template issues, project cost estimates, AFE creation, Project related software, and related issues.
  • Assist project manager/engineers in monitoring and analyzing project cost versus budget (in USD and other currencies as applicable).
  • Work with Project Engineers, Corporate Accounting and Property Control to set up the proper budget coding to be used for the allocation of costs for each AFE and Child AFE
  • Assist with procurement of goods and services, including but not limited to: generating Purchase Requests or Purchase Orders, entering receipts, follow-up with vendor on estimated delivery dates, coordination, &/or expediting of deliveries, coordinate returns and corrections with vendors.
  • Track and follow-up on unpaid bills, rebate credits, process payment over-rider requests, etc. with Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Review &/or resolve discrepancies on invoices or reports (Receipt/Invoice variance approvals, CIP, etc)
  • Work with Project Engineers, Corporate Accounting and Property Management (FAPA) to set up the proper AFE structures (children) with the proper budget coding & asset breakouts for the allocation of budgets, tracking and reporting spend, and capitalization activities.
  • Assist Project Engineers with the capitalization and project close out process (including PO closing).
  • Assist with track and consolidation reporting of construction labor productivity (benchmarking) for CapEx projects.
  • Assist with track and consolidation reporting of monthly status reports on CapEx projects for management summary.
  • Assist with project teams and Property Accounting (FAPA), Oper. Acctg., Tax Acctg., IT, Accts. Payable (AP) , insurance departments, Technology Centers of Excellence (CoE), Project Management Offices (PMO), etc.
  • Assist with Tracking and reporting project safety statistics for contractors at job site
  • Work with CapEx Procurement on new vendor set up activities including but not limited to: "Party Hub" request, proper documentation - W9, ACH, etc., contact Contractor Services to verify ability to work onsite, etc.
  • Assist with contractor Time & Material (T&M) rate issues, the handling of contractor timesheets, and perform Electronic Timekeeping and billing system administrator role
  • Scheduling and expediting of equipment and material deliveries at the direction of the Project Engineer
  • Assist in the entry and management "Lessons Learned" & "KPI's" from project(s).
  • Prepare special reports and complete other assignments as directed
  • Support and promote development and use of ADM &/or industry standard methodologies, ADM Engineering Standards, and ADM Policies
  • General office support duties or tasks as needed by the Project Team(s).
  • Assist other duties from CapEx CoE as applicable


  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business field of study &/or 3 years + experience in accounting/finance ideally with a construction and/or development industry environment preferred
  • Experience with purchase order, accounts payable, project cost tracking, and fixed asset systems.
  • Strong computer experience and skills in Microsoft desktop, Microsoft 365 applications, PolicyTech. Prior use of a Query/Reporting software (i.e. PowerBI, SQL, or other relational database knowledge), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS, EAM, or ERP) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with all levels of management
  • Possess self-management skills. Working successfully in a project focused, diverse global team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to work under pressure to meet established deadlines. Proactive thinker with innovative ideas, dynamic, highly motivated, and results oriented
  • Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail. Testing results demonstrating data entry speed and accuracy skills would be preferred.

  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential business transactions
