The Health & Wellness division is part of ADM's global Nutrition business, which includes the Human & Animal Nutrition and Health & Wellness (Human, Pets & Animal) divisions. The Global Health & Wellness R&D team operates across six locations - North America, Spain, Ireland, England, Switzerland, and China - and focuses on developing cutting-edge, science-based solutions that advance health and well-being.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Microbiome Health & Wellness R&D Center and will be based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

As Biobank and Microbiome Applications Manager, you will play a key role in driving microbiome research projects and developing innovative, science-based wellness ingredients that differentiate ADM in the microbiome markets.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Establish, manage, and expand ADM's microbial biobank, including registration, cryostock preparation, preservation, and inter-site transfers.
  • Isolate, identify, and characterize new microorganisms from environmental, food, feed, and veterinary samples to build and enrich the microbial collection.
  • Develop preclinical microbiome models and simulators for pets, aquaculture, and livestock.
  • Apply omics technologies and data-driven approaches to understand microbial genotypes, phenotypes, and metabolic pathways.
  • Lead R&D projects in collaboration with internal teams, global ADM sites, and external partners, ensuring scientific excellence and timely delivery.
  • Ensure BSL2 laboratory operations, SOP development, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate the insourcing of microbial biobanks, including technical, legal, and regulatory checks in collaboration with R&D, regulatory, and legal teams.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of scientists and technicians, setting goals, monitoring progress, and supporting professional development.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the laboratory - only zero accidents is acceptable.
  • Communicate project progress, prepare for internal and external audits, and represent ADM in scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Scout and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to microbiome and biobank research.
  • Support the development of ADM's external R&D ecosystem by building strong relationships with research partners and customers.
Your Profile:
  • Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of R&D experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or strain development, ideally within large or international organizations.
  • Proven expertise in BSL2 laboratory management and microbiological techniques.
  • Experience with dynamic in vitro digestion and fermentation models.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for microbial strain registration and biobank operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary research lines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Innovative, collaborative, and capable of translating strategy into actionable research programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional, international teams.
