This is an exempt level position.

Job Summary:

The ADM Bioproducts facility utilizes Fermentation and Down Stream Purification (DSP) processes to manufacture products for industrial and animal nutrition marketplaces. The facility is seeking an Innovation Manager with focus on leading the development and implementation of facility's growth product portfolio, and technology improvement efforts to current processes. As a member of the Bioproducts Leadership team, this colleague will have the opportunity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Precision Fermentation, Commercial, PMO, S&T, Compliance, and Engineering/Automation. The position will have direct management responsibilities of the plant's Process Development group, Technology focused Engineers, and Micro/Analytical Labs.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Collaborate closely with Precision Fermentation team and Plant Management on new process opportunities for the facility. Development of tolling contract parameters, cost analysis, throughput capabilities, and equipment selection.
  • Develop strategic plans for implementation of new technologies and process improvements
  • Provide Leadership in the following areas:
  • Evaluate facility assets for utilization with new processes sourced from ADM or 3rd party technology. o Develop material balances for new processes with the support of 3rd party and/or ADM S&T groups.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and documentation of process trials in the facility, ensuring completion of risk assessments, compliance requirements, and MOC.
  • Support CAPEX project pipeline by contributing to FEL deliverables.
  • Analyze existing processes for cost savings, reliability, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor colleagues in technical competencies
  • Proactively participate and support plant Performance Excellence, Compliance, and Culture improvement activities.
  • Employee is expected to assist in developing colleagues through training, technical support mentoring, development of pilot operating equipment.
Job Requirements & Competencies:
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or other Bio Processing related field
  • 5+ years of plant operations experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of process unit operations principles
  • Understanding of manufacturing facility compliance requirements in the areas of Safety, Quality, and Environmental. Ability to drive and debottleneck review & approval processes for new product lines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to develop reports and presentations to key stakeholders for further decision making. Written and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics. Classification: Internal
  • Ability to look beyond the task at hand, anticipate challenges, and develop solutions.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary projects
  • Effective interaction with multiple employees and managers to prioritize demands
