Assistant Superintendent - Lincoln, NE

Reports to: Plant Superintendent

About the Role:

As an Assistant Superintendent at our Lincoln facility, you will lead maintenance and day-to-day operational activities that keep our grain elevator running safely and reliably. You'll work closely with the Plant Superintendent and production teams to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance, and support continuous improvement across the facility.

In this role, you'll help maintain a safe, compliant workplace while developing and supporting hourly team members. Your work will directly support production goals through effective maintenance practices, strong planning, and clear communication.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead maintenance operations to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and reliability activities, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Coordinate daily grain elevator operations, including loading, unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, and storage
  • Train and support hourly team members in equipment operation, maintenance practices, safety, and food safety
  • Ensure employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors follow safety policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT)
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules to reduce production disruptions
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintain an organized storeroom
  • Track maintenance performance metrics and use data to drive improvements
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Lead or support maintenance projects focused on improving asset reliability and operational effectiveness
  • Step in to support operations, including off-hour shifts, when needed to meet operational goals
Position Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting maintenance operations in an industrial, manufacturing, food, feed, or chemical production environment
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience applying reliability or preventive maintenance practices, such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Experience using a CMMS or similar system to manage maintenance activities and documentation
  • A track record of solving equipment or process issues using data, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with hourly team members, contractors, and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with asset management best practices
  • Experience managing maintenance projects or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office or similar tools
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves working in an industrial facility. With or without reasonable accommodation, you will need to:
  • Move throughout the facility, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights when required
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as part of normal job duties
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator
  • Support operations across different shifts as business needs require
