POSITION TITLE: Ultimate Yield Research Summer Student


REPORTS TO: Ultimate Yield Research Manager


LOCATION: Saskatoon, SK


The Rack continually invests and implements local, independent research to support a sustainable future for farming. "The Rack" is knows for its authentic approach to modern day agronomy. Our Ultimate Yield Program is an organized agronomic and financial farm management system designed to increase efficiency for our growers. The Rack prides itself on using foundation agronomy in a holistic way, requiring full analysis of all aspects of management that ultimately determine final yield.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Research Summer Student will be responsible for working as a part of the Ultimate Yield research team to perform agronomic research with the goal of improving crop production. Research Summer Students will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of and evaluating research plots.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Research Team with a variety of related duties including; in-field operations, in-field data collection and office data management
  • Assist UY Team with agronomic duties including; scouting, tissue sampling and soil sampling
  • Other Duties as Required

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years of post secondary with a focus in agriculture will be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in the Ag industry and working with farm equipment is an asset

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Detail oriented and ability for accurate data collection and data entry
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Effective communicator ensuring timelines/deadlines are being met and all team members are kept updated
  • Familiar with The Rack as a company along with products/services available
  • Ability to travel throughout Western Saskatchewan
  • Able to work extended hours including evenings and weekends
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
