This position reports directly to the General Supervisor, Production-Mine Services.
What you will do:
  • Supervise the shift activities of a crew of six production operators in the operation of the waste gypsum storage stacks, the gypsum reclaim system, blend disposal, the sand tailing disposal/dike construction site, and process water handling system
  • Plan, direct, coordinate and execute daily activities based on the published schedule or directive
  • Ensure the total process waste disposal system is operated to achieve productions goals
  • Monitor the progress of daily activities, deal with any identified obstacles that limit the productivity of the crew, conduct site visits to ensure that all assigned work is performed in a safe manner and provide direct supervision of the mine services operating crew during the shift
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with department heads, engineers, shift supervisors, direct reports, trainers, safety and environmental personnel, mine, etc.
  • Coordinate production needs with planned maintenance activities with the mine maintenance department to ensure the long-term viability of the fleet
  • Review performance data, and develop and implement changes necessary to enhance safety, improve productivity, and lower production costs
  • Make recommendations in relation to measuring and improving production methods, employee and equipment performance/efficiency, working conditions, and the quality of work produced
  • Ensures work is done to high Health & Safety standards
  • Evaluate and coordinate the training of all Mine Services operations personnel to ensure optimal performance
  • Supervise and lead employees to be responsible for their safety, and environmental awareness while maintaining a good working relationships
  • Prepare work requests for the maintenance of equipment, to acquire needed supplies, and direct the efficient utilization of assigned resources
  • Input time verification data
  • Coordinate with the shift supervisors in the Mill and Phos Acid Departments
What you will bring:
  • High School Diploma along with demonstrated and related equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years mining experience leading people
  • Qualified candidate will be an effective team builder with demonstrated abilities 
  • Proven history of directing and coordinating business production needs 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate all levels of personnel
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and be highly motivated and self-directed
  • Must possess the strength and dexterity to personally inspect all areas of responsibility that may affect employee safety, and environmental integrity
  • Technical Degree or Bachelors Degree in Science in relevant field, is preferred
  • Must possess a working knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance, feeder/conveyor operation, "Rim Ditch Method" of gypsum stack construction, and hydraulic transport, and deposition of slurries
  • Must be able to observe and understand changing ground conditions, material slope stability indicators, and adjust equipment utilization as these changing conditions require maintaining a safe working environment
  • Must be able to conduct meetings and keep records of time, safety, production, and personnel
  • Must be able to efficiently communicate both verbally and through written instructions task directions, and job assignments
  • Participation in Employee Involvement Teams is required
