As Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture, you will lead a customer-focused architecture team that sets the technical vision for the entire Nutrien Digital team, delivering software solutions in the agriculture industry.
You will develop technical strategies, blueprints, and roadmaps to create solutions that meet the goals of Nutrien’s Retail business. You will be responsible for working directly with engineering leadership teams to ensure their solutions are architecturally consistent and technically feasible. You will direct the Digital Architecture Team to help create innovative solutions across Digital’s application suite. You will champion architectural consistency and software development best practices across our teams. This will include efforts to resolve overall technical debt, to create improvements and optimizations in software and processes, and to lead any other projects that will support Nutrien Digital’s never-ending drive to deliver world-class, high-quality solutions.
To be successful in this role you will bring strong problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of the broad range of technologies and platforms we utilize. You will also create a culture of personal ownership and drive across the Digital Architecture team, to deliver results for the business.
What you will do:
Manage a team of software architects and provide leadership for the implementation of Nutrien Digital’s architectural visionClosely collaborate with the team to construct all domain-level architecture components (e.g. data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture) that align with architectural blueprints and reference architecturesWork with your peers to ensure that the Enterprise Architecture team, Solutions Architecture team and Deployment Architecture team maintain alignment, and work together to create roadmapsRecommend innovative technologies and processes for software engineering teams based upon business value drivers and return on investment, driving these innovative technologies towards implementation.Translate business wants and needs into actionable architecture recommendations that can be executed by the software engineering teamsSupport and champion efforts with cross-functional knowledge (e.g., strategy, change management, business process management). Set technical standards including, but not limited to, coding style, code coverage, coding review processes, application reviews, and information security reviewsAdvance the development of engineering standards, employee onboarding guides, product documentation, and engineering documentationProvide people management for team members, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, motivating, rewarding, and career developmentManage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated, and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with organizational roadmaps
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a related field; experience may be considered in lieu of education. Additional education (MS/MA/BMA) preferred
12+ years of experience in architecture/design in relevant software engineering disciplines required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
1+ year of experience in a mentor, supervisor, or leadership role required
Expertise in working with various business units to ensure execution of the overall vision
Experience working as a leader to deliver working software from concept to implementation
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks, AWS, GraphQL, REST, AWS RDS, PostgreSQL, and Agile
Experience presenting to senior level management. Public speaking experience is a plus
Working experience with code pipeline systems (listed or equivalent):
Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Continuous Integration systems, (Drone and Harness preferred)
Git code management practices (GitHub)
Issue tracking (JIRA)
Experience with code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous deployment, highly scalable applications, and application security
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $153,000-$187,000. This range is estimated for the Senior Manager, Enterprise Architecture position in Loveland, Colorado. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.
