JOB ANALYSIS YIELDS POSITIVE OUTLOOK

An analysis of 2013 trends from AgCareers.com yields a positive outlook for the agricultural industry. Agriculture companies are looking to fill job openings with qualified talent and candidates are increasingly considering opportunities in the industry through AgCareers.com.

AgCareers.com has released the 2013 U.S. Agribusiness Job Report and the 2013 Canadian Agribusiness Job Report. Demonstrating the strength of the agricultural industry, the report found that the number of jobs posted on AgCareers.com increased by nearly 30% in 2013.

Jobs posted ranged in industry type, such as agronomy, meat processing, crop protection/chemicals, equipment/machinery,etc., which appeal to a large audience of candidates. Posted jobs were from a wide variety of career types, from manager to technician, production to engineering, and many more.

Interest in agricultural industry careers is growing and candidates are increasing their exploration of opportunitiesusing AgCareers.com. Nearly 1.8 million visits were made to the AgCareers.com site and AgCareers.com's social media following experienced tremendous growth in 2013. There was also a significant rise in the number of applications going through the site, with nearly 11,000 applications processed each month.

AgCareers.com attracts a wide range of candidates to the site. Nearly half of all candidates had more than five years of experience and the majority had a bachelor's degree or higher. Forty-four percent of applicants had post-secondary education in an ag-related field.

Below are a few other highlights of the 2013 report :

  • The number of applications processed through the site increased by 12%.
  • The number of jobs posted was over 4,600 each month throughout the United States and Canada.
  • Based on the number of jobs posted, the largest region in the U.S. was the Midwest, while the largest Canadian region was the Prairies.
  • The number of internship opportunities posted on AgCareers.com nearly doubled from 2012 to 2013.
