SUMMARY The Bioanalytical Scientist is a bench scientist who enjoys working directly with analytical instrumentation, developing methods, and analyzing data. The Bioanalytical Scientist is self-motivated and collaborative, driving for successful outcomes towards company goals through analytical support and intellectual contributions that may extend beyond Plant Sciences. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as well as a strong interest and capability to innovate, applying new analytical methods using instrumentation available internally or through external collaborations.
RESPONSIBILITIES* Plays an instrumental role in Research and Development through well-designed, rigorous experimentation and data interpretation.* Applies a deep understanding of bioanalytical theory and instrumentation to advance our analytical capabilities.* Acts as the primary analytical instrument expert, sharing in responsibility of equipment maintenance with the Biochemistry team.* Supports overall scientific progress of the team by continuously seeking improvements and demonstrating a growth mindset.* Takes on challenging tasks, remaining flexible and productive when faced with ambiguity. Actively, frequently, and effectively communicates with others.* Oversees development of methods and maintenance of analytical equipment.
REQUIREMENTS* Ph.D. in bioanalytical chemistry, biochemistry or related field. * Three or more years of experience using LC/MS and GC/MS instruments and related method development for targeted and untargeted metabolic and proteomic analyses. * Two or more years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting LC/MS and/or GC/MS instruments. * Strong computational skills are desired, including experience performing data and network analysis with the latest tools. * Extensive plant physiology and biochemistry knowledge is desirable. * Adheres to all standards, policies and systems as appropriate.
