Qualifications:

- Dairy experience required; experience with large herds preferred
- Experience with maternity cows and/or youngstock preferred
- Recent graduates with dairy or animal science backgrounds are encouraged to apply
- Ability to supervise, train, and work effectively with employees
- Experience following and implementing SOPs preferred
- Strong herd health knowledge, including vaccinations, treatments, and animal observation
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot health or management issues
- Willingness to assist with feeding and other dairy responsibilities as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Dairy Spanish required or strongly preferred
- Strong work ethic, communication skills, and attention to detail


Job Description:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a progressive commercial dairy operation in Wisconsin who is seeking a motivated and dependable Maternity / Youngstock Manager to oversee the maternity and youngstock areas of the dairy. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with cattle and employees while helping maintain strong herd health and calf development programs. The employer is open to considering candidates ranging from recent college graduates with dairy backgrounds to individuals with previous maternity or youngstock management experience. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a structured dairy environment. The Maternity / Youngstock Manager will oversee daily operations related to maternity cows, calves, and youngstock while ensuring all protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed. This individual will supervise employees within the department, provide training, and help develop and improve procedures to promote consistency, efficiency, and animal health. Responsibilities include monitoring maternity cows and youngstock for signs of illness or distress, administering vaccinations and treatments, diagnosing health concerns, and ensuring proper care and follow-through. The position will work closely with management and veterinarians to maintain herd health standards and troubleshoot issues as they arise. The successful candidate will also help ensure maternity stalls and calf areas are clean, organized, and properly maintained while supporting feeding responsibilities as needed. Strong communication with employees and management will be important to ensure daily tasks are completed correctly and protocols are upheld. This role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of addressing new challenges while maintaining a positive and team-focused work environment.
