JOB TITLE: LIVESTOCK FOREMAN / FARM OPERATIONS LEAD

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a qualified Livestock Foreman / Farm Operations Lead for a progressive, family-owned Iowa farming and cattle operation with more than 70 years of history. This diversified operation consists of approximately 3,000 acres of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa production, along with 250 cow/calf pairs, 450 stockers, and a managed rotational grazing system.

This operation combines traditional agricultural values with modern production practices utilizing GPS technology, auto-steer systems, precision application methods, no-till and strip-till farming practices, and strong environmental stewardship principles. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Livestock Foreman / Farm Operations Lead will serve in a key leadership role within the operation, focusing primarily on livestock management while remaining actively involved in all aspects of the farm. This individual will work alongside ownership and employees to coordinate daily activities, oversee livestock care, and help maintain the overall efficiency of the operation. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day livestock operations
  • Assist with supervision and direction of employees
  • Monitor cattle health and identify illness, injury, or performance concerns
  • Administer livestock treatments and coordinate with veterinarians when necessary
  • Assist with calving activities and general cow/calf management
  • Coordinate pasture movements and manage rotational grazing activities
  • Oversee daily cattle handling, feeding, and husbandry practices
  • Maintain accurate livestock and production records
  • Assist with fencing, pasture maintenance, and facility upkeep
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment
  • Operate farm equipment during planting, harvest, feeding, and seasonal activities as needed
  • Assist with grain handling, grain storage, snow removal, and general farm duties
  • Work as part of the crew while serving as a leader within the operation


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong cattle background with practical cow/calf experience
  • Ability to identify sick cattle and determine appropriate treatment protocols
  • Understanding of livestock health, nutrition, and general husbandry practices
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coordinate daily activities and help oversee employees
  • Experience with cattle handling, grazing management, and livestock production systems
  • Basic equipment maintenance and repair abilities
  • Ability to maintain records and communicate effectively with ownership and employees
  • Self-motivated, dependable, trustworthy, and team-oriented
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to assist wherever needed
  • Experience with rotational grazing systems beneficial
  • Welding experience beneficial but not required
  • Horse experience beneficial but not required
  • Crop production experience beneficial but not required


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Competitive salary generally ranging from $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and qualifications
