Mississippi State University is expanding its role in agriculture leadership through Farm Foundation programs, with faculty and students contributing to national policy discussions and industry innovation.

Mississippi State University is strengthening its role in national agricultural discussions through new leadership opportunities with the Farm Foundation. Two representatives from the university were recently selected for programs that connect policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders across the agriculture sector.

Associate Vice President Ashli Brown of MSU’s Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine was named a Farm Foundation Round Table Fellow. This invitation-only program brings together leaders from across the food and agriculture value chain to address key issues affecting agriculture, food systems, and rural communities. Participants meet twice a year to exchange ideas and explore solutions to industry challenges.

Brianna Croft, a master’s student in agricultural economics at MSU, was selected for the Farm Foundation Cultivator Program. The initiative pairs graduate students and early-career professionals with experienced mentors and offers opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations about the future of agriculture.

Both Brown and Croft attended the Farm Foundation’s Summer Round Table in St. Louis, Missouri, focused on “Beyond the West: U.S. Agriculture in a Realigning World.”

During the event, Croft presented research examining how H-2A labor policies impact Mississippi sweet potato production, focusing on improving labor efficiency and farm profitability.

Their participation highlights Mississippi State University’s dedication to developing future leaders and contributing to important agricultural policy discussions at the national level.
