AgCareers announces the fourth annual USA Feed Your Future Scholarship winner, Sarah Witte from the University of Arizona. This $1,000 scholarship supports students pursuing careers in agriculture and food, reinforcing AgCareers’ mission to build talent for the agri-food industry.

AgCareers has awarded the fourth annual USA Feed Your Future Scholarship to Sarah Witte, a student studying at the University of Arizona. Witte is studying Systems Engineering and minoring in Food Science, Fermentation, and Biosystems Engineering.

AgCareers created the Feed Your Future $1,000 scholarship to assist financially a post-secondary student studying agriculture or intending to pursue a career in agriculture.

The application process required students to respond to essay questions, including: “Why did you decide to pursue a career in agriculture or food?”

Witte wrote, “I have always been fascinated by the science and technology that goes into food. I want to be part of the process behind the scenes to make food and bring that equitably to people worldwide.”

Through her research with the ROOTS (Research and Outreach Opportunities in Technology and Systems) cohort at the University of Arizona’s Controlled Environment Agriculture Center, she explored advanced agricultural technology, focusing on the effects of light wavelengths on vertically farmed lettuce. Witte’s involvement with the Society of Women Engineers further demonstrates her commitment to connecting STEM and food systems, fostering industry relationships, and mentorship opportunities.

AgCareers is committed to Feeding the World with Talent by supporting education and career opportunities in agriculture and food, including this scholarship program.
