AgCareers celebrates the fourth annual Canadian Feed Your Future Scholarship winner, Bryson Burns from the University of British Columbia. This $1,000 scholarship supports students pursuing careers in agriculture and food, reinforcing AgCareers’ mission to build talent for the agri-food industry.

AgCareers has awarded the fourth annual Canadian Feed Your Future Scholarship to Bryson Burns, a University of British Columbia student. Burns is studying dietetics with aspirations to connect the worlds of nutrition and agriculture.

AgCareers created the Feed Your Future $1,000 scholarship to assist financially a post-secondary student studying agriculture or intending to pursue a career in agriculture.

The application process required students to respond to essay questions, including: “Why did you decide to pursue a career in agriculture or food?”

Burns wrote, “The many experiences I have had have shaped my desire to contribute meaningfully to creating food systems that are more accessible, equitable, and sustainable. I want to help connect nutrition, agriculture, and community needs, while still supporting systems that make it possible.”

“Growing up, I spent a lot of time on my uncle’s orchard, which instilled in me a strong appreciation for agriculture, hard work, and the attentiveness required to grow food,” commented Burns. Since then, he has intentionally sought opportunities across the agriculture and food industry to develop his knowledge and skills.

“I have worked on different farms, gaining insight into crop production and the daily challenges involved in the process. I have also worked in a butcher shop, which gave me further understanding of the processing and customer sales aspects of the food supply chain and showed me the importance of safety, ethics, and transparency in food production,” added Burns.

AgCareers is committed to Feeding the World with Talent by supporting education and career opportunities in agriculture and food, including this scholarship program.
