Spiral Manufacturing has an opening for a spiral wound filter technician. This role encompasses multiple jobs and tasks related to the construction of spiral wound filters and laterals used in various separation processes.

The person filling this position will be mostly working in a clean and climate controlled environment, individually or in small groups, though some outdoor work or work in other facilities may occasionally be required.

The work requires constant standing (often in one place) for hours at a time and can be highly repetitive but still requires a great deal of focus on creating a quality product. The job also requires the ability to lift up to fifty-five (55) pounds safely and repeatedly throughout the workday, though this is typically to reposition filters for further processing, not constant repeated lifting.

Spiral technicians will occasionally support ADM and outside customer operations by providing cleaning and installation services for spiral wound filters into their process housings. For that service, some travel (less than 5%) may be required.

The spiral technician will be expected to learn many different jobs related to the manufacturing of spiral wound filters and lateral strainers. This is including (but not limited to) the proper and safe operation of all equipment, rolling stock, lock out tag out, and preventative maintenance of the machines and tools.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining a safe work attitude and full compliance with all safety practices
  • Stopping unsafe behaviors for others through reporting or direct interaction
  • Safe, efficient operation of all tools and rolling stock
  • Troubleshooting, general maintenance, and repair of equipment
  • Learning and performing many jobs related to the production of filters and laterals
  • Learning and properly performing preventative maintenance and LOTO for all equipment
  • Rolling stock (primarily forklift and pallet jack) use
  • General housekeeping tasks
  • Accurate recording and documenting of production and events
  • Participation safety processes and auditing (JSA's, Hazard Assessments, Safe Work Permits, etc.)
Job Requirements:
  • Candidate must be eighteen years or older
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English (both verbal and written)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to perform highly repetitive work safely for long periods of time, often standing in one place
  • Mechanical aptitude is preferred
  • Experience in production, assembly, or filter manufacturing preferred
  • Effective time management skills
  • Complete adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality policies
  • Complete adherence to ADM's Code of Conduct Policy
  • Willingness to undergo random drug testing, as often as selected
  • Ability to handle deadline oriented and fast paced work
  • Ability to meet or exceed established production goals (once training is completed)
  • Must learn to identify quality defects in raw and finished materials
  • Maintain specific quality standards, and identify ways to improve
  • Work overtime on an as needed basis
  • Able to repeatedly lift weights up to fifty-five pounds safely throughout a ten/twelve-hour shift
  • Able to constantly step up and down on, and safely use, work platforms
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with coworkers and management
  • Conduct self in a professional manner
  • Be respectful in all interactions with persons encountered in daily activities
  • Work well in a small group setting
  • Work in an environment containing chemicals (primarily adhesives and solvents)
