Safety Technician - Marshall, MN

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, performs monthly PMs throughout the facility. Duties will include performing basic maintenance, collecting and entering data, writing work orders and effective communication with department leadership.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform monthly GFCI testing.
  • Perform monthly satellite eyewash station PMs.
  • Perform annual PM on fixed eye wash / safety shower stations.
  • Perform monthly CO & CO2 monitor PMs.
  • Communicate effectively with department managers.
  • Maintain close contact with the Health and Safety Manager when problems are encountered.
  • Contribute to team effort to complete the assigned sanitation schedule items.
  • Recognize process upsets and reacts accordingly.
  • Understand Life Critical Standards, monitor compliance while performing tasks and reporting safety discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment, and successfully completing all safety certification requirements.
  • May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Complete all required safety training also follow and display knowledge of all safety procedures.
  • Have a general understanding of how to use a computer and email.
  • Communicate effectively through speech and writing along with other mediums such as email.
  • Must stay motivated and show initiative to complete tasks under limited supervision.
  • Display quality work through strong attention to detail.
  • Complete all required safety training, also follow and display knowledge of all safety procedures.
  • Work with a team orientation by coordinating efforts with colleagues to complete tasks effectively.
  • Work overtime as necessary.
  • Meet requests of supervision including but not limited to the essential functions listed.
  • Utilize all equipment such as computer, process equipment, quality control instruments, and other equipment in a correct manner for its created purpose.
  • Able to meet physical requirements and perform duties in working conditions listed below.
Working Conditions

  • Day shift - average of 40 hours per week
  • Work overtime as necessary
  • Duties performed inside and outside
  • May be exposed to high and low temperatures and humid conditions
  • Atmosphere exposure: fumes, odors, dust, gas, and poor ventilation. Due to the wide variety of tasks in all production areas, this position is exposed to many atmospheres.
  • Hazard exposure: mechanical, electrical, and chemical
  • Protective Clothing Required: Hardhat, earplugs, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes/ boots, and gloves.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to ascend/ descend many flights of stairs or ladders on a daily basis (up to 30)
  • Occasionally move or lift up to 50 lbs
  • Position self to conduct work at various heights and positions such as occasionally crawling.
  • Be on feet walking/ moving around majority of work day
  • Repetitive use of feet through operation of forklift/ skid loader.
  • All senses needed to communicate effectively, recognize process upsets, and identify possible safety threats.
