Production Planner - Erlanger, KY

Position Summary

The Planner II - Production Planning is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed production schedules that align with demand forecasts, material availability, and capacity constraints. This role ensures efficient use of manufacturing resources, on-time delivery of products, and optimal inventory levels. The Planner II serves as a key liaison between production, purchasing, engineering, and logistics teams to support operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage short- and mid-range production schedules to meet customer demand and inventory targets.
  • Translate demand forecasts and sales orders into executable production plans, considering capacity, labor, and material constraints.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules based on changes in demand, material availability, equipment downtime, or other production factors.
  • Collaborate with procurement and materials management to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components.
  • Review work orders and ensure accurate data entry in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Analyze production performance metrics (e.g., schedule adherence, lead time, capacity utilization) and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to support product launches, engineering changes, and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock levels) in planning systems.
  • Identify and communicate potential production bottlenecks or risks and propose mitigation plans.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving throughput, and enhancing planning accuracy.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR 2-4 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or materials management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar) required.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of production planning principles, capacity management, and material flow.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction with the production floor.
  • May require occasional extended hours during peak production or product launch periods.
