Position Summary

The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the packaging line, ensuring that products meet established quality, food safety, and production standards. This role involves monitoring packaging equipment, performing quality checks, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the smooth flow of production. The Packaging Operator plays a critical role in ensuring product integrity while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operate packaging equipment safely and efficiently.

Ensure bags are clean and properly loaded onto the packaging line.

Perform quality checks to verify product weight and packaging standards.

Monitor packers, metal detectors, and related equipment to ensure proper operation.

Conduct routine cleaning and basic maintenance of packaging equipment and associated systems.

Clean spills and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Maintain accurate production and operational records.

Monitor packaging material inventory and report shortages.

Assist with production operations and provide coverage for the Packaging Lead when required.

Adhere to all safety, food safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of packaging systems and production processes.

Understanding of ISO, HACCP, GMP, and environmental standards.

Basic knowledge of integrated pest management practices.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work shifts, overtime, and on-call schedules as required.

Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Working Conditions

This position requires working in a manufacturing environment that may be hot, noisy, and dusty. The role involves standing and walking for extended periods, climbing, crawling, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Regular exposure to production and manufacturing areas is required.
