Job purpose: Microbiome Laboratory Technician

Main responsibilities:
  • Carrying out routine laboratory tasks, under supervision of the leader scientist.
  • Perform many items of general laboratory upkeep: general cleaning and tidying up of the lab, preparation of culture media and reagents, preparation/processing samples
  • Conduct microbial cultures e.g. in petri dishes, broth cultures, multiwell plates and bioreactors. Perform basic molecular biology technics such as DNA extraction and PCR.
  • Prepare samples for biological, chemical, and biochemical analysis.
  • Register samples accurately.
  • Perform tests accurately and efficiently.
  • Conduct necessary calculations and enter results into the system.
  • Validate initial results, identify, and report any issues during analysis.
  • Maintain and verify analysis equipment
  • Checking, calibration and verification of laboratory equipment
  • Collaborate in the repair lab equipment and in inventory tasks.
  • Collect data to maintain a laboratory notebook for experiments and protocols.
  • Assist in developing and writing new protocols
  • Support project research activities under leader scientist supervision
  • Maintain safety and quality standards in labs and pilot facilities.


Qualification and experience(University degree, diplomas, specialization in .....,work/job experiences etc.)
  • Technician graduate or similar
  • 1-5 years of experience in similar position in laboratory/clinical laboratory.
  • Proven experience in clinical laboratory techniques (microbiology, cell biology, genomics, analytical...or similar) will be an asset
