The Laboratory Technician supports the daily operations of the R&D laboratory by performing routine laboratory tasks, preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role is essential for enabling research activities in microbiology, fermentation, and product development. The technician will work closely with scientists and the laboratory manager to ensure smooth workflow and accurate execution of experimental procedures.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Work within ADM's Safety and Health guidelines, following all SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare media, buffers, and reagents for microbiology and fermentation experiments.
  • Assist in sample handling, preparation, and storage, including cold room management.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., autoclaves, incubators, fermenters) and report any malfunctions.
  • Perform routine microbiological techniques such as plating, colony counting, and basic microscopy.
  • Support fermentation processes by monitoring parameters and collecting samples under supervision.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies, organizing stock, and handling deliveries, which may involve lifting or moving heavy objects in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Process biological and chemical waste in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Accurately record data in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
Your Profile:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Basic knowledge of microbiology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs accurately.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills for working within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and learn new techniques quickly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related field)
  • 0-2 years of laboratory experience (academic or industrial).
  • Experience with microbiological techniques and/or fermentation processes is an advantage.
