Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of food and beverage laboratories, ensuring high standards of housekeeping in line with cleaning schedules, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and ensure records are completed correctly and on time.
  • Coordinate, document, and where required, perform analysis of incoming samples.
  • Carry out a range of laboratory tasks as directed by the development team.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent, accurate, and reliable results.
  • Manage goods receipt and dispatch, including goods in/out, ensuring proper handling, labelling, and documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is fit for purpose, including routine calibration, cleaning, and basic checks.
  • Monitor laboratory stock levels and support the ordering and replenishment of materials where required.
  • Prepare food and beverage samples for internal evaluations and external submissions.
  • Coordinate and conduct sample analysis, including sensory evaluation and taste testing of finished products.
  • Accurately input and manage recipe data within the SAP system.
  • Work to high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness, taking responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others in the work area.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong team player with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • High level of accuracy, precision, and attention to detail.
  • Good spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office and Excel; willingness to learn SAP.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safe working practices.
  • Able to identify issues and respond with appropriate measures.
  • Willingness to learn on the job and support a variety of laboratory tasks.
  • Comfortable undertaking some physical activities as part of the role.
  • Interest in food and/or beverages would be beneficial.
  • Able and willing to taste a range of foods and drinks as part of sensory evaluation.
  • UK/EU driving licence would be beneficial
Education & Experience
  • A Levels or 5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above, including Maths and Science.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, food, beverage, or manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge or experience of Good Laboratory Practice would be advantageous.
