The Divisional Quality Control Manager will provide leadership, direction and guidance regarding quality control within the Milling division facilities. Responsible for leading a diverse group of quality control professionals, oversight on the quality performance in the facilities, and continuous improvement. Coordinate with quality assurance, technical services and production personnel to manage customer expectations.
This position reports to the Milling Director of Food Safety and Quality for ADM.
Location: Open to considering candidates from other ADM Milling locations.
Essential Job Functions:
Perform evaluation of analytical testing frequency across the Milling division and work with production facilities to streamline, align testing and drive cost reduction opportunities
Ensure standardization and alignment of all testing, across multiple locations, with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness of results
Management and optimization of laboratory systems, ensuring system alignment throughout the division
Owner and distributor of laboratory data reports
Lead laboratory continuity planning and contingency strategies
Conduct statistical analysis and data interpretation to support decision making
Keep current with technological advancements in analytical instrumentation; looking for technology improvements that can improve laboratory reliability, efficiency, and risk reduction
Work in collaboration on online analytical projects (i.e. NIR), working with research and Global QC to develop and sustain existing systems, increasing efficiencies and ROIC
Oversite of collaborative studies, non-routine, and external lab testing for the Milling Division.
Identify and rectify recurring laboratory-related issues
Provide lab safety evaluations and improvements based on global laboratory safety policies
Oversee and provide assistance to labs when purchasing new analytical equipment to ensure performance and standardization requirements are met
Maintain contingency plans for lab equipment and spare parts across the network
Ensure QC training programs are in place for teams that are conducting analysis
Work with plants to identify root cause/corrective actions associated with laboratory outages as a result of customer complaint, first pass prime, etc
Lead person working with Procurement for the cost reduction in lab consumables
Identify CAPEX for the labs annually and have them create WAVE initiatives in order to be able to obtain the needed equipment
Liaise with technical services to work through problems/issues with analysis or process
Monitor results related to proficiency testing and reporting
Work with vendors on lab related equipment/testing and servicing
Provide analytical, instrument, method training as needed
Maintain all analytical DSOP's
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related science field or 5 or 10+ years prior Quality Control / Assurance experience.
Prior laboratory experience / knowledge of laboratory procedures
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality control requirements
Good problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of Document Management Systems, Microsoft Suite, LIMDA/TLC and PI
Working knowledge of Statistics desired
Knowledge of applicable food regulations and requirements
Ability to troubleshoot standard lab equipment (HPLC, GCs, Titrators, etc.) required
Ability to travel a minimum of 30% of the time, however, travel will depend up on the needs of the position.
