Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused, and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of heavy-duty trucks, agricultural equipment, trailers, and related machinery. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works well independently and within a team environment, and is committed to minimizing downtime through efficient and proactive maintenance practices.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, agricultural equipment, and related machinery
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Inspect equipment for safety and operational concerns
  • Complete engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, and hydraulic system repairs
  • Conduct service calls and field repairs as required
  • Maintain accurate repair records, work orders, and inspection documentation
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety standards and manufacturer specifications
  • Operate shop tools, diagnostic equipment, forklifts, and service vehicles safely and responsibly
  • Communicate repair status and equipment concerns with management and operators
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Participate in seasonal equipment preparation and emergency repair response during peak operational periods
  • Other duties as required


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Experience working on agricultural equipment, heavy trucks, trailers, or construction equipment considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and safety inspection procedures
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and safe shop practices
  • Computer literacy and experience with electronic work order systems considered an asset


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver’s license; Class 1A or willingness to obtain considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to lift heavy components and perform physically demanding work
  • Willingness to work overtime and participate in seasonal peak-hour demands when required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Safety-focused attitude with a commitment to maintaining a positive workplace culture
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing and provide references upon request
  • Must live in or close to the community of Biggar SK
