The Research Investigator leads all field activities related to seed production for corn, sorghum, and soybean crops across the various breeding programs in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, established at the Puerto Vallarta Center.
This includes planning, executing, and supervising operations to ensure the production of seed with the required physical, genetic, physiological, and phytosanitary quality standards, meeting the quantity needs of each program while maximizing operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Direct the overall management of the operational budget and site resources, developing and implementing strategies that optimize field operations, meet financial targets, and ensure the sustainable delivery of high-quality seed volumes aligned with business requirements.
Ensure effective execution of production plans through daily oversight of field activities, efficient allocation of resources, monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), and timely communication of operational results, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Lead the management and development of both permanent and seasonal workforce programs, including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, succession planning, and talent development, while fostering a high-performance culture aligned with Corteva values.
Oversee crop development and agronomic activities, proactively identifying and mitigating risks that may impact production quality, quantity, or integrity, while ensuring adherence to agronomic protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Collaborate closely with Operations, EHS&S, Seed Processing, Supply Chain, and other support functions to implement operational strategies, strengthen cross-site collaboration, and drive the adoption of best practices, innovative technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Master/PHD of Science in agriculture or areas preferably related to seed production and 5 or more years of experience in the production of corn and sorghum seed through controlled pollination.
Having excellent personal interaction skills is required as you will be leading a large group of people.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and supervisory skills.
Highly degree of motivation, initiative, and self-sufficient person.
Fluency in written and spoken Spanish/English.
