We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate with strong expertise in plant tissue culture and regeneration to support and advance research focused on refining, optimizing, and standardizing existing plant transformation protocols. The successful candidate will work within an established transformation and regeneration platform, with primary responsibility for improving the robustness, efficiency, and reproducibility of tissue culture-based workflows in Arica - Chile experimental Station.
Key Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will:
Execute and refine plant tissue culture protocols, including media preparation, explant handling, selection, regeneration, and acclimatization
Systematically optimize regeneration and transformation workflows to improve consistency, efficiency, and throughput
Evaluate existing plant transformation protocols and identify parameters affecting success rates
Generate and maintain transgenic plants produced through established transformation pipelines
Perform molecular validation of transformed or edited events
Document optimized protocols suitable for internal transfer or publication
Qualifications:
Required
Extensive experience with plant tissue culture
Demonstrated ability to regenerate whole plants from cultured tissue or explants
Experience working within an established plant transformation pipeline
Experience handling and analyzing transgenic plants
Practical experience with molecular biology assays supporting transformation work
Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Plant Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
Preferred
Experience with Agrobacterium-mediated transformation systems
Familiarity with biolistic DNA delivery methods
Experience working with genome-edited plant materials
Familiarity with vector construction for plant transformation or editing
Experience optimizing protocols in recalcitrant crops
Experience with qPCR or Southern blot analysis
