Job Purpose

The maintenance supervisor will be responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant equipment and facilities. The role oversees maintenance personnel, manages planned unplanned maintenance, ensures compliance with safety, operational standards, controls maintenance cost and leads maintenance related project''s activities.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise, coordinate and provide direction to all maintenance employees
  • Allocate work assignments and monitor completion of maintenance tasks
  • Promote teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement within the maintenance function.
  • Ensure maintenance employees perform duties in accordance to company procedures.

Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance

  • Owns the site electrical standard and ensures 100% implementation.
  • Ensures strict adherence to all established operational, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • identifies potential safety risks and implement corrective actions to eliminate hazards.
  • Promotes and maintains a strong safety culture across all maintenance disciplines.

Housekeeping and operational discipline

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, attendance, operational discipline and workshop organization.
  • Ensures maintenance workplace comply with established housekeeping and safety requirement.
  • Monitor employee attendance and adherence to company rules and regulations.

Maintenance Planning and Execution

  • manage all scheduled, preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance activities on plant equipment and forklifts.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and within established timelines
  • Coordinate maintenance resources to maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to ensure reliability.

Problem Solving and Breakdown Management

  • Lead investigations into equipment failures and plant breakdown
  • Utilize structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure team members use effective troubleshooting methods and level 1 problem solving tools.

Project Management

  • Provide the resources needed by the site project team to ensure smooth execution of the project on a daily basis.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure compliance to all safety and engineering standards.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Manage the maintenance budget and control expenses
  • Ensure availability of maintenance resources such as spare parts, tools, equipment etc.
  • identify opportunities to improve maintenance efficiency while optimism costs.

Qualifications and experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a reputable insttitution.
  • 3 to 5 years work experience. 3 years should be hands on experience either in electrical mechanical maintenance in mining or industrial environment.
  • MUST be registered with Engineering Institution of Zambia
