Duty/Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of an extensive network of key stakeholders, including government officials, trade associations, industry groups, think tanks, and other stakeholders relevant to Vylor's business, particularly in the areas of agriculture, food security, the commercial seed industry, biotech breeding, and grain trade.
- Execute advocacy initiatives aimed at shaping policy and regulatory outcomes that support the organization's business objectives, in close collaboration with Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, Communications and the Global Government Affairs network.
- Support executive visits to China, participation in high-profile events and thought-leadership programs, and senior-level government engagements involving global and APAC leaders. Provide support to the Head of China Government & Industry Affairs in key external engagements.
- Monitor and analyze key policy, regulatory, and geopolitical developments to inform and sharpen government affairs strategies and advocacy plans; identify strategic business opportunities; support business decision-making; and provide early warning of emerging risks.
- Support critical business priorities, including regulatory approvals, business development opportunities, government engagements, and crisis management.
- Manage the company's memberships in trade associations and industry groups, as well as relationships with government affairs and policy advisory agencies. Support the management of sponsorships, partnerships, and social value programs.
- Manage government and industry affairs projects and initiatives, including planning, coordination, execution, budget management, and follow-up, to ensure effective delivery against agreed objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree in technology, law, business administration, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in government relations, government affairs, public affairs, or related roles, preferably within multinational corporations, industry associations, or relevant government institutions.
- Experience in the seed industry and/or the broader food and agriculture sector, particularly within a multinational corporation or industry association, is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining stakeholder networks, including relationships with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) and/or other agriculture-related government institutions, trade associations, industry groups, and think tanks.
- Deep understanding of Chinese government institutions, policy-making and regulatory processes, and the broader geopolitical landscape relevant to multinational businesses operating in China.
