Position summary:

The grain operations will help assist with general operating activities in relation to grain receiving and fertilizer distribution as well as loading, inspecting, and documenting all finished outgoing products in a timely manner to ensure customer delivery. The responsibilities of this position will be divided to perform receiving and loading operator duties.

What will you do:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Handle and oversee shipping and receiving
  • Accurately load trucks and rail cars using mechanical equipment, meters, and scales as required
  • Maintain warehouse inventories and manage fertilizer inventory management
  • Prior to loading ensure each truck is free of contaminant
  • Ensure production is loaded on the correct truck and proper inventories are accounted for
  • Measure bins with accuracy to ensure proper inventory levels of products; properly record measurements for daily records
  • Accurately complete necessary paperwork required in the record keeping of the receiving and loadout operations
  • Accurately enter proper data into the computer system
  • Communicate quality, safety and efficiency concerns to appropriate personnel
  • Operate and tend machinery and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment
  • Perform housekeeping duties as requested by the Site Manager and Supervisor
  • Coordinate work functions with fellow shipping and receiving employees and other departments
  • Executes tasks in an efficient and safe manner
  • Adheres to all safety requirements of the company
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 Who are you: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment preferred
  • Background knowledge in fertilizer, grain, and agriculture preferred
  • Prior maintenance experience or the desire to learn a plus

 Qualifications needed:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient written communication skills in business correspondence
  • Ability to take orders but also work and stay on task without constant direct supervision
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. 
  • Ability to lift up to a maximum of 100lbs with assistance of other team members
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery for items over 100lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions
  • Ability to work additional hours during Harvest seasons
