Animal Nutrition Research – Intern

The Wenger Group internships offer students a unique exposure to many facets of technology and its relationship with agriculture. The Wenger Group tailors the internship to meet both the student and company objectives for a mutually beneficial experience. The Nutrition Research Intern will provide support to research team on feed and bird handling of research trails. Travel to various mills and research farms as appropriate to the objective of the study.

What will you do:

  • Ensure adherence to Wenger policies, methods, and disciplines.
  • Gather the collection of data as determined by the Chief Nutrition Officer
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and an interest in continued knowledge of technology as it evolves
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a large research team
  • At least one year of related research experience preferred
  • Assistant with the experiments alone without close guidance or supervision
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written formats
  • You have a keen eye for detail and organization
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including both days and nights performing research or data entry
  • Desire to perform accurate and ethical research to achieve results for the study
  • Ability to negotiate and openness to learning new ways of performing research
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Intermediate Word/Excel knowledge to manage docs with track changes, formatting, Word Forms, protected documents/sheets
  • Attention to detail to review approved docs for format, records content, consistency of numbering, consistency of titles within content and training sections, completion of revision history
  • Attention to detail in managing template contents to accurately maintain the origin, review, and version dates as well as updates to document owners and approvers. Ability to maintain a high quality of work with attention to detail while ensuring personal productivity and efficiency
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
  • Self-starter; ability to drive things to closure
  • Able to work well both independently and in a group setting
  • Ability to multi-task in effectively executing responsibilities
  • Proficient written communication skills in business correspondence and other required documents; can present numerical data effectively

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly and up to 75 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Who are you:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Animal Science, Agriculture or related field required
  • Experience working with databases and systems, including inputting and extracting data
  • Exposure to or experience in feed mill and/or livestock (poultry, swine, dairy) production is preferred
  • Has understanding of basic business process to read content for general understanding and grammar and make minor grammatical corrections
