The Logistics Assistant I has primary responsibility for accurately and independently handling the transportation needs of the business (both domestic and international). They will be making and managing container bookings, lining up trucks/drayage and transloading services, have daily communication with all inbound and outbound facilities regarding problem resolution, scheduling, and information retrieval. The Logistics Assistant I is responsible for providing high level customer service to supply side and end users. This is to be held by an experienced individual with high attention to detail and strict adherence to schedules in order to provide efficient transportation coordination in a high volume and a quick paced business Job Responsibilities
Support Logistics Specialists and traders in meeting schedules sold on contracts and communicate with transloaders, ocean carriers, drayage companies and suppliers regarding shipping schedules and transport issues. This includes managing the BCO bookings "deck" for new booking requests, splits and rolls, diversions and proper cancellation notices.
Responsible for keeping track of loading status on domestic trucks, drayage, loading facilities to ensure that disruptions to meet the export schedules are anticipated and reacted to with insight & resolve.
Coordinate domestic and international shipments. Participate in management of overall supply chain to ensure that disruptions to logistics are anticipated and reacted to with insight, resolve, and leadership.
Responsible for ensuring timely delivery and other requirements as determined by purchase and sales contract specifications.
College degree or minimum 2 years experience preferred to be in supply chain field.
Proven ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast paced changing environment
Team oriented leadership skills
Ability to multi-task, prioritize work flow and complete tasks with a high level of organization, responsibility, and efficiency.
Knowledge in international transportation and export procedures
Knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel experience is required.
