The Grain Originator & Logistics Manager will be responsible for grain origination and logistics management within the Specialty Grains Group. The position will manage current producers and initiate new producer contact in support of the origination program. The position will manage logistics and in particular, the IP barge program and assist in the container export program. The Originator will be responsible to assist the Business Unit Manager and other Merchants in improving the business unit operational efficiency. The position will also be expected to understand and utilize the information in the accounting system reports and provide useful feedback which will allow the business to grow and improve efficiency. Job Responsibilities
Responsible for communicating with producers and other suppliers, managing contracts, pricing contracts and deploying Scoular apps and other technology resources in support of the Specialty Grain origination program. Work with IT to create and deploy new means to interact with producers and truckers. This position is responsible for setting origination prices at various transload sites and posting prices on Scoular's web site and other means. Providing crop updates throughout the growing season. Conduct farmer meetings and other events in support of the business. Support Scoular's wider origination program and in particular the Andres origination program.
Responsible for overseeing logistics and CIF position. Manage each truck to barge transload site and coordinate with 3rd party river transload facilities. Being present on site to weigh, grade, and manage transload at various facilities. Scheduling trucks, purchasing barges, managing barge placement, and managing testing supplies & equipment. Setting CIF prices with customers. Constant communication with required parties. Assist in container scheduling and logistics management including making new bookings and maintaining communication with drayage trucks.
Assist Merchant Assistants with truck and barge settlements and problem solving with customers. Assist Business Unit Manager in the preparation of P&L estimates, forecasts, and budgeting. Work with company controllers. Provide useful feedback to the Business Unit Manager which will help grow the business and improve efficiency.
Assist with daily futures and cash position management. Comply with company policies and procedures always. Make suggestions for improving operational efficiency and implement recommended change as needed.
Possess a strong interest in production agriculture
College degree or equivalent industry experience
Possess good communication, problem solving and sales skills
Customer service skills and positive, persuasive, and credible attitude
Demonstrated PC literacy and ability to utilize standard office systems
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong mathematical and analytical ability
