To support that challenge, the Soybean Seeds Production and Operations Team is currently seeking a Lab Production Technician in Jefferson, IA.

In the Agricultural Industry there will be extended working hours during time sensitive periods of the year. This is where the collaboration comes in. Every member of our team pitches in to help out in all areas to ensure that all seed is properly handled and tested so the highest quality seed will be packaged to meet sale demands. During these times, you may be requested to assist in any of the following areas; Laboratory Production, Plant Operations, Seed receiving, and Field Agronomy activities.

 

Accountabilities

    Accurate and timely processing and planting of seed samples for quality coming into the lab Diligent and continuous processing of essential paperwork and data entry Ability to set up all batch paperwork and sample bags for packaging as needed Support Agronomists in field related activities as directed Development and execution of processing plans required to meet key business strategies and product availability requirements Proactive communication both interdepartmentally and cross functionally to assure that lab, plant, and field efforts are performed in a manner consistent with accommodating business demands and requirements A proactive response when seed is not meeting approved Product Specifications standards Timely execution and provisions of informational requirements Assist in plant miscellaneous activities during down times Provide training and supervision of third-party personnel Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and routinely inspected Support preventive maintenance program for the plant equipment Work in Lab, bulk receiving, conditioning, treating, packaging, or other areas to meet facility needs Provide leadership and overall seed quality expertise to lab, plant, and field activities


Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED required Experience in inventory, distribution processes and/or managing quality transactional data in SAP Seed Industry experience of 2 years or more Ability and willingness to learn and operate safely state of the art plant equipment as needed Ability and willingness to work OT as needed during peak times Must be authorized to work for Syngenta in the United States without work authorization sponsorship

Preferred Requirements

    Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or related plant science is highly preferred
