We are currently seeking a Soybean Breeding Project Lead to plan, manage and support the delivery of projects that will improve the performance of Syngentas global soybean germplasm and North American (NA) commercial soybean varieties.
Provide leadership to the soybean breeding project team. Responsible for the Stage 0 to 4 product development workstream within the project.
Manage breeding pipeline from product concept through genetic entity development
Measure and monitor key performance indicators relative to pipeline performance and program efficiency. Leverage performance metrics and benchmarking to constantly improve efficiency of germplasm improvement (genetic gain and cost)
Ensure appropriate technology integration in germplasm improvement projects and product development processes
Work with Product Placement Scientist to support late stage line promotion decisions
Partner with Trait and Applied Genetic Scientist to support development and implementation of Native Trait & Molecular Breeding efforts
PhD in Plant Breeding or related discipline
Knowledge and experience in methods of plant breeding, bioinformatics, plant breeding theory, genetics, and next-generation sequencing data
Work experience in the application of molecular technologies to product development including Marker Assisted Breeding MAB, Genome Wide Selection GWS and Genome Wide Association Mapping GWAS
Experience working big dataset, artificial intelligence and using data analytics applied to plant breeding
Programming experience in C, C++, python, R, Perl, and SAS in conducting genetic and statistical analyses is desired
Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and experience in project management principles
Proven ability to work in a team environment
Individual must be authorized to work in the United States for Syngenta without work authorization sponsorship now or in the future
