This position will lead scientific research and conduct experiments primarily in the area of protein biochemistry, with a strong focus on manipulating proteins and characterizing their binding to cognate receptors. Lead the adoption and development of technologies to advance functional capabilities in the areas of protein characterization, engineering, and protein-protein interactions. Synthesize results in relation to strategic objectives and clearly communicate progress and challenges to varied audiences. To be an active member of the Input Traits Discovery group contributing to group innovation and troubleshooting across disciplines. Significantly contribute to the identification and development of the next generation of crop protection products
Deliver reproduceable results to the function or project in a timely manner. Drive innovation and evaluate new research ideas. Develop new processes, methods, and or protocols and ensure their appropriate validation and wider implementation. Design, plan, carry out, and interpret experiments alone or in collaboration with other scientists. Conduct research in accordance with or exceeding all relevant HSE guidelines Contribute to a congenial group environment, fostering scientific rigor, safety, and inclusion Communicate clearly and effectively
PhD degree in the field of Biochemistry or related areas or a master’s degree with relevant prior experience Knowledge of protein science, especially in receptor binding and analytical techniques for characterization Broad knowledge of protein expression and production strategies Knowledge / understanding of protein structure and how it can be manipulated Significant experience in producing, manipulating, and altering/mutating proteins followed by functional validation for enhanced properties Must be able to work proficiently in a team-based, project-focused, and changing environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Expertise designing and safely conducting experiments utilizing radiolabeled proteins is a plus Knowledge of the employment of proteins within an agricultural or entomological context is a plus Experience evaluating protein structural data for engineering purposes Experience working with insecticidal toxins and insect receptor proteins found within brush border membranes is a plus
