Role Purpose

  • Lead the CP Human Safety Platform in NA
  • Work closely with the NA Head CP Product Safety and Global Head of CP Human Safety to develop best in class technical capabilities in mammalian toxicology, residue science and human risk assessment in NA and leading Human Safety organization
  • Be accountable for delivery of NA Human Safety expertise to regional and global projects
  • Drive development of science strategies and technology foresight for emerging human safety science areas in NA
  • Work closely with global Human Safety and regional Product Safety to ensure development of coherent and credible science to gain and maintain product registrations

Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the CP Human Safety organization in NA region
  • Ensure delivery of human safety outputs to support business objectives in NA region
  • Develop human safety capabilities and capacity required to support business growth
  • Ensure succession plans and key talent individual development plans in place for all staff and when necessary effective recruitment strategies to ensure sustainable development of the platform
  • Proactively contribute to the strategic direction of NA CP Product Safety and Global CP Human Safety through membership on regional and global leadership teams
  • Ensure that the Syngenta purpose, values and leadership model are well understood, promoted, and modelled across the Product Safety organization
  • Provide technical leadership both internally and externally regionally and globally


Education and Experience

    Broad understanding of toxicology, exposure science and risk assessment associated with crop protection products to interact with internal and external stakeholders Must understand and comply with both regional and global requirements that are placed on the team and deliver according to the appropriate defined standards and priorities
  • Ability to manage highly complex work programs and drive the best outcome by effectively working with diverse regional and global internal stakeholders Regulatory & Stewardship, R&D, Product Technology & Engineering, Product Marketing, etc. and external partners CROs, consultancies, trade associations, scientific institutes, etc.
  • PhD in a scientific discipline relevant to human safety with 10 years of postgraduate relevant experience
  • Broad knowledge of the techno-regulatory environment including government authorities, academia and key influencers, capable of high-level judgement and influencing
  • Proven track record of effective leadership of a large group including team leads and senior technical staff
  • Proven ability to manage complexity and ambiguity and resolve business-critical issues in a collaborative manner
  • Skilled in gaining commitment of key reports and influencing both internal and external stakeholders in a credible way
  • Skilled in setting compelling strategies and effectively driving and managing change
