As the Control Systems Technician, you will:
Perform all maintenance activities associated with process instrumentation, analyzers, and electrical distribution at the St. Gabriel site. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, instrumentation and analyzer equipment failures and restore to operating condition. Scope and execute small capital projects. Ensure installed equipment meets site standards and perform documentation updates.
Accountable for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and improvement of process instrumentation, analyzer, electrical systems, and distributed control system devices, and hardware for the St. Gabriel site. Understand and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and P&ID’s. Understand basic maintenance processes & systems used to plan, schedule and execute work. Plan, and schedule work in an assigned unit to meet overall maintenance and production requirements. Maintain and update technical information, drawings, calibrations, and maintenance records. Interact with production unit personnel and provide knowledge of process automation controls. Direct efforts for solving problems which may be operational rather than the result of control systems failure. Participate individually or as a team member to promote safety. Participate regularly in call-outs and overtime in units of the plant. May be responsible for off-hours duty. Improve and implement control systems additions to solve operational problems, to improve plant reliability and to reduce operating cost.
2 years formal I & E training/schooling Vo-Tech, ABC programs. Knowledge of RCRA state and federal regulations. General knowledge of chemical waste hazard classifications and safe handling techniques. Knowledge of general instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting. Understand and use engineering documentation systems such as P&ID’s, one-lines, ladder diagrams, C-7’s, electrical schematics. Understand PSM and Mechanical Integrity requirements and guidelines. Able to adapt to changing technology and identify new applications. Able to communicate effectively at various organizational and departmental levels. Technical knowledge in instrumentation, analyzer, and distributed control systems hardware and devices. Technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems to 13.8KV. Understand basic maintenance processes & systems used to plan, schedule and execute work. Knowledge of SAP PM module. Understand and able to use site MOC C-7 process. Able to use problem solving techniques.
Minimum of one year direct experience in the following areas:
Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of control system devices such as valves, sensors, flow devices, level devices, electronics Troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment/systems supporting the distribution or utilization of electric energy. Experience installing or repairing a variety of electrical equipment, such as transformers, switches, switchgear, controllers, circuit breakers, power panels, motors, conduit/raceways, or other distribution equipment.
