Role Purpose

 

Drive and develop new image & video analytics algorithms, computer vision CV procedures including machine learning and deep learning-based approaches for trait extraction from remote sensing systems UAV, satellites

Geospatial alignment of phenotypic data layers from satellite to ground based systems

Deliver project results as part of an overall project plan and ensure seamless integration of algorithms and data flow with the IT infrastructure and standardized procedures

Conduct research and coordinate work with peers

Create new analytics modules in collaboration with cross-functional and agile development teams

 

Accountabilities

    Accompany the implementation of digital phenotyping strategies and projects through implementation and deployment of computer vision and image analysis algorithms Run analytics and optimize processes in interaction with IT/R&D-IT Closely interact with Pipeline Enablement, Data Science, IT and geospatial information systems Actively scout the algorithms landscape for optimization of feature extractions and respective predictions


Requirements

    Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Vision or Computer science with focus on image analytics or related disciplines, Doctorate degree or equivalent in Computer Vision or related disciplines is beneficial In-depth knowledge of image analysis procedures for the quantitative extraction of traits from remote and proximal sensing systems 2D and 3D including machine-learning classifiers, clustering, feature selection/reduction, dimensionality reduction and deep learning-based algorithms, preferably in the context of biological or agricultural Research and Development 3yr + experience in CV/Image analytics preferably in plant biology research industries Demonstrated experience and skills in programming image analytics, statistical data analysis, clustering/classification, multivariate analysis and machine learning complemented by strong data fusion, data visualization and presentation skills Demonstrated coding ability in Python, Bash, Java, MATLAB, C++ Appreciation of the value in data - experience in managing, analyzing or using complex data to make scientific or business decisions

Preferred Requirements

    Sound understating of AI, Augmented Reality, Sensor Analytics, GIS environments would all be beneficial Experience with open-source software like ImageJ, Fiji, OpenCV as well as deep learning i.e. TensorFlow Familiarity with Unix and high-performance computing environments, use of R/Bioconductor, SQL Knowledge of fundamental concepts in imaging-based automated plant phenotyping, statistics and bioinformatics including biological databases and web tools
