We have a vacancy for a talented and enthusiastic Scientist to join our?Physiology QC Development team, a key part of the Global Vegetables Quality Control organization ensuring the most suitable quality testing methods and technologies are implemented in Syngenta's QC labs worldwide.  


The Challenge

In the position of Scientist, you play a vital role to maintain and deliver essential QC capabilities by being a visible expert and trusted partner in seed physiological quality testing. You come up with new ideas and concepts to deliver game changing innovations that shift the paradigm for physiological quality testing, with a particular focus on automation and digitization. You understand the needs and challenges of physiological quality testing throughout our global footprint, and partner to find effective solutions and drive continuous improvements for the benefit of our colleagues, the business, and our customers.  You lead efforts to maintain existing physiological quality tests, and to develop, validate and implement new tests as required, ensuring fit for purpose and performance quality. You work with counterparts in other regions and diverse colleagues in allied technical and commercial functions, including external partners as required. You will represent Syngenta in initiatives coordinated by ISTA and AOSA, to contribute industry standards of stewardship for the supply of high-quality seed products to global agriculture.  


Your Profile

To succeed is this position you have a MSc or PhD in Seed/ Plant Physiology, Biology or related field with several years of experience in an industry or academic setting. You work agile and adaptable, and you are capable of quickly grasping new concepts and formulating appropriate research questions that can be translated into clear, purposeful, and successful projects. You have demonstrated ability to be a team player, to effectively partner and communicate with diverse global stakeholders. You have a track record of successful implementation of new methods, workflows, or technologies, out of box thinking, creativity, problem solving and troubleshooting. You are familiar with tools and techniques in use of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, IoT adaptations and you have experience in planning and interpretation of data.

We are looking for someone who is fluent in English with excellent communication and reporting skills.
