The Assistant Trait Development Lead (A-TDL) role is an integral part of a team that is composed of the BPL (Breeding Project Lead), the AGS (Applied Genetic Scientist), and the TDL (Trait Development Lead). This team works in concert to utilize market and biological information in the development of our commercial products. The triangle is supported by Biological Operation (BO) and others enabling Functions in executing experiments.

The A-TDL role represents the interface between the project Team (AGS, TDL, BPL) and Biological Operation including others enabling functions and ensures project execution set by the project Team of a given project.

This position will report to the principal scientist. 



As an Assistant Trait Development Lead you will be responsible for:

  • Provide planning and logistical support to the trait development group for all Cucurbitaceae Traits activities
  • Specifically, to assist with activities related to seed logistics (shipment for trials, storage, seed production, planning and execution of trials related to traits, sampling, genotyping, crosses etc...).
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Biological Organization (BO) to facilitate Cucurbitaceae Traits activities; specifically, to ensure compliance with defined processes/requirements and crop management specific to Traits projects. These activities may involve important/novel genotypes and require flexibility and a 'à la carte' management.

This position is a key for Traits projects with the aim of developing and providing new innovative Traits on the market. You will be part of a team of specialized researchers in plant breeding and/or genetics. You will work in close relationship and interface will several R&D services for tasks deployment related to experimental trials.



  • Master's degree of science in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Breeding and Genetic, or other applied Plant Biology discipline.
  • Experience in plant cultivation and handling in open field and artificial environments.
  • Good knowledge of plant biology, genetics, and plant breeding
  • Good knowledge of project management
  • Ability to navigate in a matrix organization and to work within multicultural team
  • Skills to coordinate operations across functions
  • Well organized
  • Ability to communicate effectively (Verbal and Written) in English.
