Job Description:

The Mill Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of the

company’s largest and busiest feed manufacturing facility, producing more than 105,000 tonnes annually of

pelleted and mash hog feed. This role is accountable for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation

of the mill, including grain and ingredient receiving, feed production, inventory management, shipping, quality

control, maintenance coordination, and staff supervision.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall performance of the mill to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations across all areas.
  • Supervise, coach, and support staff while promoting accountability, teamwork & continuous improvement.
  • Build team capability by mentoring employees, strengthening performance, and developing future leaders.
  • Oversee grain receiving, batching, pelleting, mash production, loadout, and shipping to ensure product is manufactured and delivered according to specifications and timelines.
  • Coordinate production schedules, staffing requirements, and deliveries to meet demands.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, Feed Assure standards, and company policies.
  • Drive improvement in maintenance execution by supporting more structured preventive and scheduled maintenance practices.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, condition, and operational readiness of the mill, yard, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Oversee feed quality and inventory control, including monthly inventory counts and ingredient management.
  • Coordinate grain/ingredient procurement and scheduling to ensure consistent uninterrupted production.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve preventive programs, procedures, and systems that support operational performance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with farmers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support employee retention and engagement by providing consistent leadership in a demanding, high-volume environment.
  • Complete all required administrative duties, reporting, and documentation in support of mill operations.
  • Carry out other duties as required.

 

Education/Experience Required

  • Excellent organizational skills and good computer skills
  • Supervisory experience with a commitment to quality and attention to detail
  • A good understanding of swine diets and feed quality including experience with mill batching systems
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, 1A license is an asset
  • Mechanically inclined
