Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Nutrien, OSHA, MSHA, and MARSEC guidelines
Conduct inspections and perform equipment repairs on rollers, conveyors, screens, switches, and chemical processing components
Maintain the processing components of an assigned production area
Use proper Personal Protection Equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, face shield, flash suites, and personal environmental monitors
Assist in completing safe work permits tasks by confirming proper PPE is used, proper safety procedures are followed, Lock out tag out completed, and barricades are in place before work begins
Install new parts and production components such as bearing, seals, pumps, motors shafts, rollers, pulleys, and belts
Use hand and power tools to complete job tasks by making the proper selection of a tool to complete assignment
Work in teams by completing assignment to minimize down-time
Acquire necessary licenses to operate forklift, man lift and boom truck (area specific)
Pipe fitting and bolting up flanges by using proper techniques and tools to complete the task
Tear down and install processing components during a 8-hour shift
Complete hot work permitted tasks by acting as a fire watch, barricading access, fire control, and checking air quality
Complete confine space permit tasks by setting up ventilation fans, monitor air quality, and performing as an entrant and attendant duties
Complete Craft Training and Progression Plan training by testing for each module in the allotted time frame to ensure steady progression is achieved from Level 8 to Level 13
Install components such as pumps, compressors, drivers, turbines, conveyors, boilers, piping, and valves
Assist with PM task during down days by following PM check sheet and signing off to indicate tasks have been completed, forwards to supervisor for review
Utilize consumable supplies during repair activities to ensure they are used in the most cost effective manner
Check the condition of rotating components by inspecting bearings, blades and fan belts, reports details to supervisor to schedule repairs
Inspect Hydraulic systems by checking oil levels, possible system leaks, and heat exchanger, reports concerns to supervisor to schedule repairs
Troubleshoot work-related problems by using established work methods to isolate concerns, and then uses proven repair techniques and best practice to complete work tasks
Housekeeping for an assigned area by cleaning area prior to job completion, turn in completed paper work indicating area is clean
Use schematics, diagrams, repair manuals, and blueprints to locate and repair equipment and production components
Assist electricians, welders, and other skilled trades to complete assigned tasks
Assist in fabricating metal production components by using cutting torch and welding equipment
Assist in rigging process components for removal and installation by following proper rigging techniques to complete tasks
Read daily job activities and scope of job to determine tools necessary to complete tasks, follows up on job package and reviews changes with supervisor
Assist in conducting fixed ladder inspections by using the Fixed Ladder Inspection sheet to verify each ladder component meets standards, reports any concerns to the shift supervisor
Conduct daily inspections of mobile equipment by using the mobile equipment checklist before using the equipment
Update job activities by documenting any changes to the job package and reviewing with supervisor
What you will bring:
High school diploma or equivalent, along with high school or postsecondary courses in mechanical drawing, mathematics, blueprint reading, computer programming, and electronics
Knowledge of the details of Standard Maintenance Procedures, safety, and environmental procedures, production, and regulations are necessary to become a competent Mechanic
The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 5 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 4 on Workplace Documents in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien

Ability to pass a pre-employment exam and drug screening
Ability to talk and give instructions to others while focusing on the primary task of conducting repair
Ability to handle conflicting situations and task assignment changes may be needed when dealing with production concerns
Quick reaction time and creative thinking skills are requirements on the job
Ability to work in different bending positions
Ability to work safely in high places and around hazardous equipment
Constant attention to details during the daily production process to prevent upsets
Reliability, responsiveness, and dependability. It also requires being careful about details and thorough in completing work tasks
Ability to wear a respirator.
