Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following Nutrien, MSHA and OSHA regulations and procedures
Follow the Code of Conduct; always
Follow on-the-job safety and environmental guidelines
Frequent inspections of area to identify hazards
Operate equipment used to perform routine activities associated with supporting and maintaining production in and around the Mill area
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow process control procedures and general department guidelines
Support personnel to ensure production goals are achieved
Maintain regular contact with other Operators via radio systems
Understand departmental SOPs and assist with writing new SOPs, when it is deemed necessary
Inspect Mill production equipment within area of responsibility
After undertaking the appropriate training such as completing various permits like Confined Space, Lock Out, Tag Out, and any other permits assigned by supervisor
Assist in scheduling of maintenance repairs
Monitor gauges, samples, and data recorders
Receive notification from supervisor or other assigned personnel to make specified operating adjustments
Observe gauges and instruments, turn valves, and moves controls to regulate temperatures, pressures, and flow of steam, coolant, and chemical constituents through system to effect prescribed reaction within critical limits, according to knowledge of equipment and process
Must be open to change and varying work environments
Perform preventative maintenance by greasing and maintaining proper oil levels of stationary and mobile equipment as well as conveyor systems as directed
Actively participate in site safety programs
Recognize, report, eliminate, and mitigate all hazards in found in the work area
Assist in maintaining of process equipment by performing Operations Driven Reliability tasks such as checking and maintaining fluid levels, inspecting equipment and initiating repair work by utilizing existing maintenance programs
Participate in refuse collection and disposal as well as site recycling programs
Operate production processes remotely using computers equipped with Process Logic Control Software as needed
Responsible for performing accurate and thorough documented work area inspections in compliance with MSHA Regulations
Participate in Safety meetings and scheduled trainings
Communicate with the Shift Supervisor, in a timely manner, concerning any abnormal situations or conditions in areas of responsibility
Communicate with Maintenance or Electricians to perform Energy Isolation, and permitting of equipment at the job-site when maintenance or repairs are required
Communicate with relief in a manner that honestly and accurately describes issues and conditions that will be encountered by your relief

High school diploma or equivalent Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel is preferredMust maintain a current NC Driver’s LicenseMay be required to be clean shaven for safety reasonsMay be required to work at high elevations and in open spaces such as platforms and/or catwalksMay be required to work 12-hour, rotating shiftsAbility to wear required, company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)--i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 5 on Workplace Documents to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien.
