The Rotating Engineer is a staff position reporting to the Process Engineering Superintendent.
What you will do:
  • Maintain safety awareness, insist on compliance with safety rules, and promotes/encourages the company Safety processes
  • Ensure safety is a primary consideration for any activity recommended or undertaken
  • Supervise coordinates and manages the execution of Maintenance Engineering projects
  • Provide coordination and supervision of outside contractors or consultants used to carry out project assignments
  • Supervise and coordinate major project installations and major equipment repairs during outages or turnarounds
  • Analyze process equipment problems and/or failures and recommends corrective actions
  • Complete project/MOC assignments
  • Provide engineering for corrective action, obtain necessary approvals when required, issue written reports, and follow up to ensure proper completion
  • Development and issuing of equipment specifications
  • Maintains and provides timely reports on accurate time logs, maintenance engineering projects updates, and significant activities including training, technical support, and process/project support
  • Maintenance and updating of plant technical and engineering specifications
  • Assist site management in accomplishing company goals
  • Provide formal Root Cause Failure Analysis, training and engineering support for ODR/ TPM efforts, and joint maintenance/operations walkthroughs for plant areas or equipment
  • Provide technical support as required to the planning and performance of turnarounds and planned outages
  • Maintain and upgrade personal competency in his/her field of expertise, staying current with the latest advances in technology
  • Provide technical input or consultation to plant technical personnel outside the Maintenance Department
  • Develop major overhaul scopes for plant equipment based on anticipated repairs, known problems, machinery performance and available downtime
  • Develop machinery overhaul procedures to ensure the most efficient methods are used
  • Develop and provide necessary technical input for the establishment of effective preventive maintenance programs and/or technical procedures
  • Provide recommendations to ensure that the plant takes full advantage of or recognizes the latest equipment developments, diagnostic methods, and maintenance techniques
  • Support maintenance and/or projects group on an emergency basis which can potentially be on nights and/or weekends
  • Works daily with area team members under the direction of the area Operations Manager to accomplish plant objectives in the following priority areas of Safety, Environmental, Quality, Reliability, Production, Efficiency, Cost Reduction and Innovation
  • Assume the quality control function in all assignments
  • Check and correct all variables that would delay the job, affect the equipment or plant's reliability/efficiency, carefully document all significant data, follow up and correct any item requiring modification or improvement, issue timely documenting reports after completion of assignment
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance department on a day-to-day or emergency basis
  • Instruct plant personnel when practical and when deficiencies are noted which may require the off-plant witnessing of equipment testing/repair or vendor shop/expertise evaluation and the writing of purchase requisitions 
  • Provide both formal and informal training to maintenance and operations personnel as needed to support the efficient and appropriate operation and maintenance of plant equipment
  • Support the warehouse inventory system by providing specifications for parts purchases
  • Review and approve inventory stocking requests
  • Provide spare parts recommendations for new and existing equipment
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering expertise for technical support and daily support activities required for the rotating and mechanical equipment in PCS Nitrogen and associated operating plants
  • Provide mechanical equipment engineering, design, inspection, and evaluation for existing and new equipment
  • Develop long term planning and strategy for effecting optimum reliability and serviceability of the rotating and mechanical equipment in the operating plants
What you will bring: 
  • BS Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years engineering experience in the chemical process industry 
  • Understaning of vibration data
  • knowledge of industry and API Specifications and Recommended Practices pertaining to rotating and mechanical equipment and systems
