The Shaft General Foreman is one of three General Foreman reporting to the Mine Maintenance Superintendent.
What you will do:
    Manage the activities of the Shaft Department in a safe and efficient manner to achieve established production goals within approved budgets, company guidelines and legal requirementsProvide safety leadership, ensure compliance with all safety and workplace rulesProvide guidance and coaching to front line supervisorsCoordinate the shaft work with input from Operations, Maintenance and EngineeringEnsure the function and reliability of the hoist and shaft assetsActively participate in the site safety programsOptimize and use daily downtime to complete required inspections and maintenance in the area while still achieving site production targetsParticipate in regular shutdown coordination and extended down planning in order to effectively use all shut down time
What you will bring:
    7-10 years of industry experience of which several were spent in the shaft areaA technical diploma or degree in a related discipline is preferredAn underground supervisor certificateMine Rescue certification, involvement in O.H.&S., and experience in Exposure Based Safety programs would be an assetExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of shaft and hoisting systems, including maintenanceProven leadership qualities coupled with the ability to engage and inspire, coach and mentor othersGood written and oral communication skillsStrong organizational skillsComputer proficiency
