Process Engineer - (Joffre, Alberta, Canada)

Process Engineer reports to the Plant General Manager.
What you will do:
  • Monitor unit performance to identify problems and opportunities with the goal of continuously improving production, efficiency, cost and environmental performance
  • Oversee the process and process safety engineering function at Nutrien's Joffre Plan
  • Provide ongoing support to operations and ensuring Operating Approval requirements are met
  • Support adherence to the 14 elements of our Process Safety Management (PSM) program by providing guidance and leadership to the Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Information (PSI), and Safe Operating Limits (SOL) processes and systems
  • Lead or participate in process incident investigations and drive resolution to follow-up action items
  • Provide leadership, support and ownership in the area of Operational Risk Management (ORM) by working with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering personnel to assess and mitigate risks associated with operational issues
  • Provide support for long range business needs, capital investment plans and projects including identifying short and long term equipment improvement and replacement needs: develop alternatives and recommend design solutions, define scope and develop primary cost estimates and project economics
  • Ensure engineering standards are followed
  • Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others
  • Ensure familiarity and demonstrate the Nutrien’s safety policies, leading with a safety mindset and modeling the 3 Safety Principles, modelling the 10 Tenets of Operation and having your own personal safety action plan

    Outside of the skills and necessary qualifications, our ideal candidate must be committed to achieving superior results with integrity and sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side others in a diverse cultureKnowledge of PSM systems and processesKnowledge in pressure vessels, piping codes, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and safety valvesAbility to work in an operational team environment with limited supervisionExcellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving and organizational skillsExperience working with Microsoft Office suite and SAPBachelor of Science or equivalent in Chemical or Process EngineeringRegistered Professional Engineer or immediately eligible to be with APEGA as a Professional Engineer4+ years of relevant experience
