The incumbent will report to the Chief Automation Engineer. This employment opportunity is intended to be a 4-month term (September 2020 - December 2020), with the possibility of a 4-month term extension (January 2021 - April 2021).
 
This temporary employment opportunity is part of Nutrien’s Aboriginal Internship Program. It is intended to introduce a voluntary self-identified Aboriginal student or recent graduate to professional work experiences at Nutrien.
What you will do:
  • Assist with design, prototyping, and commissioning of automated machinery and processes
  • Assist with project reporting, risk identification, scheduling and execution
  • Work closely with other site teams, and be actively involved in a wide range of engineering support and design functions
  • Review advances in industry and technology to evaluate possible new solutions and applications
What you will bring:
  • Completed a minimum of two years in an Electrical Engineering program
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
  • Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and prior knowledge or exposure to Rockwell RSLogix5000 or other PLC programming environments would be an asset
  • Experience working in a mining or industrial environment is preferredSuperior interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills are essentialPositive safety behavior and safety leadershipAbility to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
