This position reports to the General Manager.
What you will do:
  • Define the priorities, commitments and expectations for the production units
  • Safe, environmentally sound and efficient operation of the Augusta Plant production units
  • Provide resources, training and guidance to remove plant-bottlenecks to achieve continuous improvement in processes, equipment, and people
  • Direct maintenance efforts to achieve desired reliability and efficiency
  • Develop the maintenance budget and is a key contributor in development 'of the 'capital budget
  • Develop plans and procedures to meet commitments and established plant goals and objectives
  • Give clear concise operating instructions
  • Work closely with other Nutrien managers and the Turner organization to facilitate open communication and to maintain a high degree of employee involvement in a continuous improvement culture
  • Direct and ensure the training of production personnel are sufficient to achieve desired results
  • Accept and promote ownership of the production units
  • Work with staff on the development of capital projects to facilitate improvements and production capacity, reliability, environmental compliance, quality and efficiency
  • Manage available resources so that budgeted production quantities are produced on specification and at the appropriate cost while maintaining plant equipment and related assets
  • Conduct periodic safety reviews with staff and production personnel
  • Monitor and control releases to the environment; works closely with environmental staff, to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Champion ADAPT, AQIP, ISO 9001:2000, Manufacturing Excellence, ODR (Operations Driven Reliability), SPC(Statistical Process Control), and other core value continuous improvement efforts; ensures operational support and cooperation with these initiatives
  • Establish and monitor correct operating parameters and best manufacturing practices to achieve desired process quality
  • Foster good employee relations by maintaining close work relationship and effective communication with staff; ensures that legitimate concerns and issues are resolved-fairly- and equitably; defines standards of performance expected
  • Communicate daily with General Manager and other key managers on plant operating conditions, reliability issues, compliance issues, etc.
  • Act as a technical resource to the production areas and engineering staff
  • Be the primary communicator with Product Management Group with the applicable area products
  • Performs other duties as required
What you will bring:
    B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or B.S. in other Engineering Discipline or related experienceMinimum of 5 years chemical process experienceProduction management and knowledge of the specific chemical processes involved
